Sunday 4th August - Wins for JW Sunday XI and the women triumph in Blackpool

James Whittaker's Sunday XI hosted Oxton and watched the visitors reach 195-8 declared with Chris Mitchell (4 for 57) the pick of the bowlers. Sefton were in a spot of bother at 37 for 2 but opener Sarhad Rustom (57), Navi Singh (44) and Mike Heaney (32) steered them towards a four wicket win.


Meanwhile, Alex Woods took his Sunday XI to Wavertree where they won the toss and batted. Alex (23), James Woods (23), Dan Cuthbert (20) and an excellent unbeaten 30 from Ben Lester helped Sefton reach 155 for nine off 45 overs. Wavertree's reply saw Ian Dawes take 3-25 but the hosts reached the target for the loss of five wickets.

The Women's 1st XI travelled north to Blackpool in the Lancashire 40 over League with Stanley Park witnessing some excellent innings from Alice Kelly (67no), Sarah Jackson (48) and Sarah John (45) help the visitors post 215 for five. Two wickets apiece for Caitlin Summers, Lucy Brooks and Lorna Harper saw Sefton wrap up a 101 run victory.

Earlier in the day there was a victory for the U11s against Liverpool by just four runs.
