Weekend preview: Maghull visit in-form 1st XI

Sefton Park 1st XI host Maghull today - a fixture which has often thrown up tight finishes in recent years. Sefton squeaked home by two wickets in a low scoring game last season; two years ago a draw which both teams felt they coulda-shoulda won.

Maghull picked up their first league win at home against Hightown St Mary's last weekend; Sefton, currently sitting in second thanks to home wins over the division's two Wirralian teams, welcome spinner Tom Spilsbury back into the ranks this afternoon.

Noon start at Croxteth Drive with the "last hour" called at 5.45pm.

Many thanks to Michael Row for sponsoring today's match ball - and helping to publicise the work of Opening Up at the same time!

Tom Rushton's 2nd XI scraped past Caldy in the Chrysalis Cup T20 on Thursday evening and will be hoping to keep that winning feeling going as they cross the river again this afternoon to face perennial title challengers Wallasey.

Sefton 3rd XI are in the somewhat unfamiliar surroundings of the Sefton lower ground today. Having started the campaign with four consecutive away games which produced three wins and a draw, top of the table Sefton play Northern 3rd XI.

Conversely, Sefton 4th XI play their first away game of the season. They are on the road to North Wales to play Northop Hall 3rdXI for their second meeting of the season after the Welshmen won at Croxteth Drive on the opening day.

Sunday sees Alex Woods' side at home to Liverpool's PSXI in a third-versus-top clash at Croxteth Drive while Ronan Brady's side travel to St Helens Town.
