Cricket at last as Pete Elliott's Sunday XI win at Trafalgar Road

After a wet Saturday prevented any Sefton Park cricketers from taking the field there was finally a break in the weather on Sunday allowing both the Sunday XI and Sefton Park Women to play.

Pete Elliott's Sunday XI travelled to Trafalgar Road to take on Southport and Birkdale. Winning the toss and electing to field, Park's Tom Spilsbury dominated the bowling figures, taking 6-38 from 14.4 overs as the hosts were dismissed for 142.

Opener James Whittaker hit 54 and with James Stirling (24) and Leo Spilsbury (28) both chipping in the target was reached for the loss of just three wickets.


Sefton Park Women were in action at Liverpool in the Women's Hardball Super 8s League. Liverpool lost just one wicket on their way to a net score of 280 from 16 overs with Park reaching 246 in reply. Sarah John top scored with 15.
