Just two games this week as the campaign reached its climax for both the First XI and Second XI.

The First XI travelled to play a Birkenhead Park side who were three points behind second placed Southport and Birkdale and looking for promotion if they could better their rival's result.

Sefton won the toss and decided to field first.

Birkenhead Park began rapidly with both of their openers scoring at a run a ball.

They lost their first wicket on 56 and then fell to 84 for 4. A recovery took them to 147 for 5 but they then collapsed to 159 all out in 17 overs.

Jimmy Dixon finished with 3 for 56, Tom Spilsbury 3 for 26 and Pete Ostler 2 for 5.

Sefton knew that their reply would not be easy, and so it proved. Jeremy Rogers scored 21 and Paul Horton 19 to enable them to reach 84 for 5. Matt Young (51) and Leo Spilsbury took them to 150 for 5. Leo fell for 32 when the score was 158 for 7. Two more wickets fell on 158 and Daksh Singhvi took them over the line for a one wicket victory.

Sefton finished sixth in the table with champions Colwyn Bay and Southport and Birkdale being promoted.

Ainsdale and Hightown St Marys were relegated.

With nothing at stake, the Seconds welcomed Ormskirk to Sefton Park.

Following the early morning rain, the game started two hours late.

Sefton won the toss and elected to field.

Ormskirk never settled and were bowled out for just 32 in 11.2 overs.

Michael Kelly took 4 for 22 and Andy Nicholas 5 for 9.

Sefton's reply was not easy but Luke Connolly held the innings together with a score of 25 not out as they passed the Ormskirk total with 3 wickets down in the ninth over.
