Old rivals Bootle were welcomed to Sefton Park for the First XI game.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. After losing a wicket from the first ball and the second with the score on five, they rapidly reached 50 for the third wicket. South African Hermann Rolfes held their innings together, scoring 71, but with their score on 161 for 9, Sefton were in a strong position. However the last wicket pair took the score to 209 for 9 in 55 overs at tea and then batted on until they were dismissed for 227 in 59.1 overs, a stand of 66 for the last wicket.

Sefton scored steadily in reply but lost Kaash Patel for 33 with the score on 96 for 3 and skipper Paul Horton for 43 at 130 for 4. With the score on 161 for 9, Jimmy Dixon joined Leo Spilsbury in the middle and they were able to bat out the last few overs for a draw, finishing on 194 for 9 in 45 overs. Leo Spilsbury scored 22 not out and Jimmy Dixon 6 not out.

The Second XI travelled to play Wallasey where the home side won the toss and decided to bat first. A stand of 52 for the second wicket was followed by the other wickets falling quickly.and an all out total of 126 in 34 overs. Tom Spilsbury bowled throughout the Wallasey innings, taking 5 for 29 in 17 overs, Sam Parkinson took 3 for 29.

In reply, Rob Supria opened the Sefton innings and scored 77 in 60 balls, Jeremy Rogers scored 24 as they shared an opening stand of 74. Eventually, skipper Luke Connolly saw them home with 19 not out and a four wicket victory.


The Third XI played Northern's GK XI on the Lower Ground. The visitors batted first and passed 100 for the opening wicket before going on to declare on 248 for 4 in 43 overs.

For Sefton Matt Young did not deserve to be on the losing side as he scored 95 not out as Sefton's reply fell just 10 runs short of the Northern total. Joash Vinu scored 22 and Tom Rushton 24.

The Fourth XI played a strong Orrell Red Triangle XI. Orrell batted first and declared on 195 for 6, Ian Dawes took 3 for 46 and Naj Ahmad 2 for 25.

In reply, Sefton were dismissed for 40 with Naj Ahmad top scoring with 15
