Sefton Park Summer Solstice match 2026

Sefton Park Cricket Club played its 16th annual Summer Solstice Cricket Match beginning at 4.43am on, Sunday, June 21. Spectators watched as the cricketers faced off at sunrise at the start of the longest day of the year. The inaugural 20 over match, which was played in 2010 to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary, was the brainchild of former player Robin Surtees.

The match has now become an annual fixture - and this year the weather was well and truly in the club's favour as the players took to the pitch during the country-wide heatwave. A tightly contested affair this year saw the Long Shadows beat the Early Risers!

An outdoor yoga session also took place after the match, on the top pitch.
