Sefton Sunday AWXI won a cracker at Croxteth Drive to stay top of the table.
Sefton raced to 214-5 in 34 overs before declaring; James Daniels (65) and James Woods (75) put on 127 for the third wicket.
Given ample time to reach the target, St Helens Town 3XI took a steadier approach but at 149-5 they appeared well set. Enter James Woods, with the ball this time; his 3-23 turned the game as Saints were bowled out for 193 deep in the last hour. Ronan Brady (2-21) and Finn Spragg (2-38) were also in the wickets.
Sefton's JWXI batted on to declare on 198-6 from 47 overs but ran out of time as Formby closed on 130-8 in a drawn game. Mike Lowe (25no), Rajiv Bhardwaj (27no), Phil McLoughlin (35) and Jack Clements (57) got the runs with Andy Fallows (5-45) the pick of the bowlers.
Sefton Women 2XI were dismissed for 57 at Maghull and lost by six wickets.
