Sunday 24th May - Defeats for the Sunday XIs but women beat Liverpool

On the hottest day of the year so far Alex Woods' XI headed up the coast to Trafalgar Road to play Southport and Birkdale.

Zaid Hashim (3-15) and Venu Sivasubramaniam (3-8) were the pick of the bowlers as the hosts were dismissed for 187. In reply Ian Kelly (18) opened and top scored as Sefton were bowled out for 90. (To see a gallery of pictures from the game go here)

Ronan Brady's XI hosted Haydock and were unfortunately also dismissed for a low score with Tom Rooney's 20 the only highlight of a total of 70 all out. The visitors reached the target for the loss of five wickets in the 24th over.

Better news came from the women who played Liverpool at home in the first round of the Lancashire T20 Knockout. Frankie Morris (5-4) was the executioner inn chief as Liverpool were skittled for just 47 before Sefton wrapped up a seven wicket win.

Earlier in the day Sefton Park U11s Green beat Wavertree convincingly and we were also able to field a couple of sides at the U9s tournament at Rainhill.
