Sunday 6th September - Alex Woods passes 1,000 runs for the season

Sunday XI skipper Alex Woods achieved a notable feat in his side's victory over Fleetwood Hesketh uon the lower ground becoming the first Sefton Park player to score 1,000 runs in the Play Cricket era (since 2008).

As a measure of the achievement only David Heyes (1,104 runs in 1996), Charles Jones (1,062 runs in 1888), current 1st XI captain Paul Horton (1,021 runs in 2003) and Howard Bangs (1,009 runs in 1954) have reached similar milestones in the history of the club.

Alex scored 67 and Raj Bhardwaj hit 44 as the Sunday XI chased Fleetwood Hesketh's total of 141 all out for the loss of five wickets. Will Saunders took 4-37 and Dan Cuthbert 3-24.

Ronan Brady's Sunday XI travelled to Rainhill with Ed Carrington filling in for Ronan. The visitors were bowled out for 104 with Frank Shovlin (24) and Josh Tennant (23) top scoring.

Rainhill struggled to reach the modest target with Josemon Vincent's 3-18 the highlight as the hosts won by two wickets.

On the top ground, Sefton Park Women played their last game of the season in the LCF Women's 40 Over League against champions Edgworth. Put into bat, Caitlin Summers led the way with 77 with Sarah Jackson (20) and Hannah Kennedy (22) also contributing to a total of 171-9. The visitors reach the target for the loss of three wickets in the final over.
