Sunday, July 9th - Pete Elliott's Sunday XI manage a draw between the rain

Saturday's bad weather continued into Sunday with both sides hit by the storms affecting Merseyside.

Pete Elliott's Sunday XI travelled to Southport and Birkdale's Trafalgar Road ground and winning the toss they elected to field. The hosts went on to make 162-5 off 36.4 overs with Tom Spilsbury taking 4-46 before the rain hastened a competitive declaration.

The excellent drainage allowed Sefton to take the field with Leo Spilsbury (46), Sam Parkinson (41) and Tom Spilsbury (23) taking the visitors to within sight of the target before they closed on 146-8 off 27 overs.

It was a similar story at Croxteth Drive where Phil Mcloughlin's Sunday XI, captained by Phil Foster, won the toss and elected to bat. The host's opening pair of Foster (23) and Daniel Kunadian compiled a patient stand of 61 before the rain came with an attempt at resuming scuppered by an even heavier shower which forced an abandonment. Daniel finished unbeaten on 37 as Sefton closed on 80-1.
