Thursday 7th May - 1st XI progress in ECB National T20 Knockout

Sefton eased through to the second round of the ECB National T20 Knockout this evening.

After being inserted and losing both openers, stand-in skipper Matt Young (52 from 34 balls) and Sarhad Rustom (29) put on 66 for the third wicket before Raj Bhardwaj (32*) and Daksh Singhvi (21*) took Sefton to 147-4 from their 20 overs. Kieron Battersby picked up a couple of wickets for Caldy.

Jimmy Dixon took 3-10 to quickly reduce the visitors to 22-4 and, with the game no longer a tight contest, Sarhad took 2-14, Connor Melia a couple of C&Bs - the first excellently taken - for 2-13 plus two run outs from the deep saw Caldy dismissed for 85 in the 16th over.

Sefton will now travel to Bootle or Old Xaverians - who meet next week - in the next round.

Sefton Sapphires U13s Girls kept up their good start to the season with a 43 run win against Wavertree on the lower ground.
