Tuesday 10th June - 1st XI exit Echo Knockout but 3rd XI progress in cup

Sefton are out of the Echo Knockout after defeat to Cheshire County League side Port Sunlight.

Sefton posted 104-5 from their 20 overs; Raj Bhardwaj's 36* from 26 balls was vital to Sefton reaching three figures as he and 1st XI debutant Tom Rushton put on an unbroken 55 partnership for the sixth wicket. Stand-in skipper James Stirling earlier made 24.

Sefton had some hope when in form skipper Simon Melberzs was snared by Abhishek Jagan with the score at 24-2 but Port Sunlight were always ahead of the rate and cruised to the total with 22 balls and six wickets to spare.

Better news from the away games as Sefton 3XI defended their 118-6 (Jack Clements 30*, Alex Woods 24, James Whittaker 21) to beat Wallasey and move into the quarter-finals of the LDCC Mike Dunn Knockout. Jonah Duggan took four wickets.

Sefton Women scored 118-5 at Southport with Lauren Rutland's 43 the mainstay before skittling their hosts for just 19; Abbie Wright took 5-2 and Eleanor Cantwell 3-2, both from 4 overs, to wreck S&B's hopes.
