Fourth XI

Match abandoned without a ball bowled

On a rain affected Saturday, the First XI travelled to Wigan to play Highfield in a top of the table battle but it was five points each as not a ball was bowled, So Sefton remain on top but Bootle have closed in to a point behind with a game in hand.

There was better luck for the Second XI, still looking for their first win, as they managed to get their home game against Colwyn Bay started, just half an hour late.

Colwyn Bay won the toss and decided to field first.

After losing early wickets, a stand between Sefton's Dave Kelly (72) and Sarhad Rustom (54) enabled them to go on to declare on 203 for 7 off 43 overs.

In reply, Sefton's early bowling was good but it was the introduction of Tom Spilsbury that was match winning as the young spinner took seven wickets (7 for 32) to dismiss Colwyn Bay for 90 in 30.3 overs.

So a first win of the season moves them up two places from the bottom of the table.
