The First XI travelled to play league leaders Southport and Birkdale

Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. Unfortunately, they were soon in trouble

Only Sarhad Rustum (15) reached double figures out of the top six batters and Sefton were 48 for 6 and 56 for 7. A stand of 37 for the eighth wicket between Tom Spilsbury (38) and Adam Taylor (22) enabled them to reach an all out total of 108 in 61 overs.

S & B found no trouble scoring the runs required as Australian opener Raunak Roy scored 74 in 48 balls. Two late wickets for Jimmy Dixon (2 for 30) enabled Sefton to gain their one point for the day. Southport and Birkdale passed the Sefton total with two wickets down in 16.1 overs.

Sefton now drop to sixth in the table and welcome Northop Hall to Croxteth Drive next week.

The Second XI welcomed Formby to Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. Three early wickets from Michael Kelly (3 for 66) meant that the visitors were 90 for 3 but there then followed an undefeated stand of 182 including a century for Nick Sutton (115 not out).

This enabled the visitors to declare on 272 for 3 in 40 overs.

The total always looked out of reach for Sefton. Jeremy Rogers scored 52 and Scott Aitchison 27 but in the end it was left to Andy Aitchison (28 not out) and Ben Lester (5) to bat out the last 20 overs and enable Sefton to draw, finishing with 178 for 8 in 50 overs.

The Seconds are seventh in the table.

The Third XI travelled to play Hightown St Marys, won the toss and decided to bat first.

James Daniels scored 40, Tom Wilkinson 67 James Whittaker 48 not out enabling them to declare on 202 for 3 in 38 overs.

In reply, Sefton were able to bowl 50 overs but Hightown held out to finish on 127 for 5.

There were 3 wickets for Ian Dawes and 2 for Mark Boyns

The thirds are third in the table.

The Fourth XI played Wavertree's Fourths on the Lower Ground.

Sefton won the toss and decided to field first. Paul Barlow took 4 for 35 and Usaid Muhammad 3 for 22 as Wavertree declared on 169 for 9 in 45 overs.

Sefton's reply suffered a few hiccups but they passed the Wavertree total with seven wickets down in 32 overs. Mike Heaney scored 24, Tim Yates 25, Jo Ledbury 54 and Paul Barlow 31 not out.

Sefton are third in their table.
