Sunday 31st August - First XI win Ray Tyler Cup with thrilling triumph over Spring View

Sefton Park First XI won a thrilling final against Spring View off the penultimate ball of the game to lift the Ray Tyler Cup.

Spring View won the toss and batted first, reaching 36-3 from 16 overs when rain forced the players from the field. When they returned, with the game reduced to 41 overs per side, View slipped to 60-5 before Supun Samarathunga smashed 80* from 65 balls (8x4, 2x6) and 200+ looked on at 168-6 with 25 balls left in the innings - but Abhishek Jagan mopped up the tail to leave Spring View bowled out for 174. Abhi finishing with 4-42, Huzaifa Zubair 2-17 and Daksh Singhvi 2-42.

After some DLS shenanigans, Sefton required 186 from 41 overs. Haroon Khan got the innings off to a quick start but when Sefton slipped from 42-0 to 63-4 with the engine room gone, Khan and Matt Young took their time to rebuild, taking Sefton into three figures before Haroon fell for 59 from 65 balls (4x4, 4x6). Huzaifa joined Matt and with typical aggression changed the timbre of the innings, before Young was run out for 30 from 71 balls with the score on 151. When Zubair fell for 34 from 24 and Daksh was run out soon after, Sefton still required 24 from 23 balls with just two wickets left. Spring View, who had rolled Sefton in the league here when chasing a low total earlier in the season, smelt blood. The evergreen pair of Jimmy Dixon and Abhishek Jagan came together. They needed 17 from the last three overs, twelve from two, five from the last - and from the fifth ball of the final over, Abhishek squeezed a single and the celebrations could begin as the First XI won their first silverware since 2013's Division Two title.

Massive congratulations also go to Sefton Park Women who have retained the Liverpool and District Women's T20 League title.

Winstanley Park were unable to raise a team on Sunday morning handing the women the points they needed to complete a summer long unbeaten campaign!

Sefton Sunday RBXI made short work of Bootle 5XI. Having won the toss and elected to bat, Bootle were at one point 17-7 before being bowled out for 49. Theo Archer took 2-11, Usaid Muhammad 2-3, Frank Shovlin 2-10 and Angus Blenkenstein 2-18. Jack Clements hit a run-a-ball 37 to clinch an eight wicket win.

Rain hit the Business Houses Finals Day at Parkfield Liscard. Sefton Midweek XI reached 137-2 from 19 overs but after a lengthy delay Team United B raced to their reduced target to lift the Junior Cup. Congratulations to Team United.
