The First XI welcomed local rivals Liverpool to Sefton Park. Liverpool won the toss and decided to bat first.
Sefton's early progress did not indicate the problems that would occur later. They took the first wicket on 2 and then the second on 45. This was as good as it got for Sefton as the visitors put on 139 for the third wicket and then an undefeated 111 for the fourth wicket as they declared on 295 for 3 in 46 overs after one batter, Rob Rankin, had reached 153 not out in 86 balls.
Sefton knew that the reply was an almost impossible task and they soon lost wickets., eventually being dismissed for 117 in 32.2 overs.
Top scorers were Huzaifa Zubair with 24 and Jimmy Dixon 29.
The First XI now drop to fourth place in the table and next week, play Fifth place Orrell Red Triangle at home.

The Second XI travelled to play Wigan where the home team won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first.
Half centuries from Kaash Patel (57), Scott Aitchison (57 not out) and Tom Rushton (52 not out) enabled them to declared on 227 for 3 in 42 overs.
Hopes were high as Sefton took their first wicket without a run on the board , but then Wigan began to build up steady partnerships and eventually passed the Sefton total with 8 wickets down in the 38th over.
The Seconds are also fourth in their table.
The Third XI travelled to Crosby to play Northern's Fourth.
Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. Alex woods scored 25 but that was the only significant contribution by a top four batter. Ben Lester (46) and Jack Clements (74) put them in a strong position and 35 from Mark Boynes enabled them to declare on 208 for 8 in the 45th over.
In reply Ben Lester (3 for 9) and Mark Boyns (3 for31) both completed fine individual performances. Ronan Brady took 2 for 31 to dismiss the home side for 135 in the 43rd over.
Sefton's 73 run victory moves them into top place in the table
The Fourth XI played Liverpool's Fourths on the Lower Ground.
Sefton won the toss and elected to bat first. An innings of 64 by Dan Cuthbert was the backbone of their innings. Rob Kennedy scored 27, Naj Ahmed 20 and Luke Carl 24 not out made valuable contributions as they were able to decale on 212 for 9 in the 47th over.
In reply, all went well as Sefton had Liverpool on 69 for 9 but a score of 91 by the Liverpool number 10 made Sefton worry about getting the last wicket. They did this with just a few overs to spare, dismissing Liverpool for 168 in the 38th over.
Ian Dawes finished with 5 for 55 and Finn Spagg 3 for 31.
