It was a day of collapses and stands plus two fine bowling performances in games that were lost

The First XI travelled to Southport and Birkdale. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first.

A solid opening partnership of 31 set them on their way but the introduction of new boy Daksh Singhvi to the attack changed things. Three wickets fell on 40 and they were soon on 68 for 8. Then followed the first stand of the day as they put on 96 for the ninth wicket followed by an undefeated stand of 46 before they declared on 210 for 9 in 55 overs.

Daksh Singhvi finished with 7 for 54 and Abhishek Jagan 2 for 41.

In reply, Sefton started well as Ben Percival (34) and Chris Bellis put on 55 for the first wicket. Joash Vinu scored 34 in a stand of 50 for the second wicket. Paul Horton and Chris Bellis took the score to 133 for 3. Then, after Chris Bellis was dismissed for 55 with the score on 137 for 4, only Huzaifa Zubair with 16 not out hung around as they collapsed to 166 all out in 49.4 overs.

The First XI slip to 7th in the table and next week welcome Old Xaverians to Sefton Park

Leigh were the visitors to Sefton Park for the Second XI game. Sefton won the toss and decided to field first.
