Alex Woods' Sunday XI beat Mossley Hill and the gathering storm clouds on Sunday afternoon.
Mossley Hill elected to bat but no-one other than Dom Wallis (65) passed ten as the Sefton bowlers chipped away to dismiss the visitors for 127. Niamat Ullah with 4-30 from 15 overs, Frank Shovlin with 3-38 and Theo Archer 2-18 doing the damage.
As the skies darkened, the Sefton skipper took it on himself to win the game as he blazed 60 from 38 balls with support from James Whittaker (25) before Alex's elder brother, James Woods, hit the winning runs to reach the total in just 15.3 overs for a four wicket win and maintain the side's 100% record in 2024.
A rearranged game saw Sefton Park 4th XI take on Liverpool 3rd XI on the top ground at Croxteth Drive looking for their first win of the season. Batting first, Sefton's opener Rob Kennedy top scored with 33, with seven other players reaching double figures, as the hosts declared on 170-9 off 48 overs. Chris Mitchell then took 2-16 with Shadab Khan claiming 2-27 but Liverpool hung on for a rain-assisted draw as they closed on 97-7 off 40.2 overs.
Earlier on Sunday, the girls' section was able to field two sides at the latest Softball Festival held at Bootle CC. A great testament of the progress and number of girls who are now playing cricket at Sefton Park.
