Sefton 2XI are out of the Chester Cup after defeat to Wallasey.
Wallasey scored 281-7 from their 40 overs, built around Martin Williams' 103. Robin Brown took 3-45. It was always going to be a tough ask but when Will Miles took 5-27 and Sefton slumped to 44-5 it was all but impossible; Tom Rushton scored 63 but Sefton could only muster 157 all out.
Two contrasting draws for the Sunday teams. Sefton Sunday AWXI scored 256-8d (Raj Bhardwaj 110) but didn't come very close to forcing victory; Wigan's innings closing on 243-5.
Sefton's RBXI were bowled out for 140 on the lower ground but, having reduced Whitefield to 98-9 were unable to force victory despite bowling 12 overs at the last pair. Mohammed Sidiq scored 24, Ed Carrington 22 and Angus Blankenstein 20 were in the runs.
