Winning the toss and electing to bat on a warm day at Croxteth Drive, Sefton's 1st XI faced Highfield in the Ray Tyler Cup semi finals.
Recovering from 4-1, the hosts were indebted to James Stirling (58) and Dan Kelly (62) who built a partnership of 102 runs for the fourth wicket which allowed Sefton to post a competitive 203-8 off their 45 overs.
The feeling was the target may have been 20-30 runs short but hopes were high with the removal of both openers for low scores. However, the visitors recovered with a strong middle order performance which gradually took the game away from Sefton and they reached the winning total in the 36th over for the loss of five overs.
A special thanks must go to the big and enthusiastic crowd who turned out to support the game - it was wonderful to see the ground so busy!

There was better news on the lower ground where James Woods' Sunday XI welcomed Parkfield Liscard. Father and son opening duo Charlie and James Daniels had a day to remember as they put on 139 runs for the first wicket before the chairman was out for 42. James would go on to score 72 with Alex Woods (59), James Whittaker (44no) and James Woods (20) adding more runs and allowing the home side to declare on 280-7 from 45 overs.
The skipper was the pick of the bowlers in taking 5-17 as Parkfield were dismissed for 105. The win means James' side sit second in the table with a game in hand.
