The First XI travelled to Wigan to play Spring View who they defeated in last year's Ray Tyler final.

The home side won the toss and decided to field first.

After losing the first wicket on 3 and the second on 42, Sefton moved on to 102 for 3 when Haroon Khan was out for 57. Paul Horton was out for 79 with the score on 196 for 5 of which Raj Bhardwaj contributed a valuable 35 runs. Huazaifa Zubair added 29 and Sefton were able to declare on 217 for 6 in 55 overs.

In reply, it was Jimmy Dixon's day as he reduced Spring View to 54 for for 5, taking all five wickets. A stand of 58, then, followed before Jimmy took the sixth wicket. and finished with 6 for 60. Tom Spilsbury joined the attack and took 2 for 22 before Huzifa Zubair took the last two wickets as Spring View were bowled out for 167 in 37.1 overs. Huzaifa finished with 2 for 39.

The First XI now move to top of the table and look forward to welcoming Sutton (St Helens) to Sefton Park next week.



Northern were the visitors to Sefton Park for the Second XI game.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first.

After losing the first wicket with the score on 15, they put on 144 for the second wicket and went on to declare on 223 for 6 in 44 overs. Andy Nicholas finished with 4 for 53 and Michael Kelly 2 for 77.

In reply, Sefton struggled and fell to 26 for 5. Andy Aitchison then steadied the innings, putting on 45 with Ben Lester (12). and 71 with Michael Kelly who scored 41 in 29 balls. Andy was eventually out for 59 with the score on 142 for 9 but defeat was not avoided as Sefton were dismissed for 159 in 41.5 overs.

The Third XI played Birkenhead Park's Thirds on the Lower Ground.

Sefton batted first but after a solid start from Alex Woods (43), they struggled to reach 152 all out in 45 overs. Mark Boyns scored 24 and Charles Daniels 19.

Birkenhead Park's reply saw them make little attempt to reach an apparently achievable total and they finished on 105 for 8. Paul Barlow took 2 for 1 in 9 overs, Mark Boyns 2 for 37 and Usaid Mohammed 2 for 12 in a drawn game.

A similar game for the Fourth XI who travelled to play Birkenhead Park's Fourths.

Sefton batted first and declared on 210 for 7 in 45 overs.

Birthday boy Rob Kennedy scored 32, Muhammad Awais 37 and Zainullah Gul 70 on a sparkling debut for the teenager.

In reply, Jonathan Dopson took 3 for 21 but Birkenhead Park were able to reach 117 for 6 in another drawn game with the leaves Tim Yates' side unbeaten in four games and second in the table.
