The First XI welcomed a Highfield team to Sefton Park that had defeated them in early June and were third in the table.

Remarkably, after weeks of dry weather, it rained as the game was about to start. The game got under way about an hour late with the visitors batting after winning the toss.

Highfield made up for lost time by scoring rapidly. They put on 66 for the first wicket and kept up the pace until deciding to declare at the 3.30pm tea time.

They went for a run to get the bonus point at 190 but lost a wicket to a run out and an extra bonus point to Sefton.

The finished on 189 for 6 declared with Jimmy Dixon taking 2 for 58 and Tom Spilsbury 3 for 45.

In reply this left Sefton with plenty of time but they did not need it as Haroon Khan got going. He put on 41 with Chris Bellis (11) for the first wicket and then 142 for the second wicket with Jeremy Rogers. Haroon was eventually out for a stunning 124 in 89 balls. Sefton lost one more wicket and Jeremy finished on 35 not out as they passed the Highfield total in 28.5 overs.

Sefton remain fifth in the table but with the top three all losing, it has made everything a big tighter at the top.

The Second XI travelled to play Wigan.

The home side won the toss and decided to bat first. The first wicket fell on 10 and the best stand was 44 for the fifth wicket as they went on to be dismissed for 151 off 41.1 overs.

Michael Kelly took 2 for 52, Daniel Cuthbert 2 for 19, Pete Ostler 3 for 29 and Connor Melia 2 for 29.

What looked a gettable total did not prove easy for Sefton. Scott Aitchison scored 35, Jack Sawbridge 25 as they were in a perilous position at 104 for 9

However, Ronan Brady joined Connor Melia in the middle and they were able to bat the five overs required to pass the Wigan total with Connor finishing on 26 not out and Ronan 4 not out. The Seconds remain ninth in the table.

The Third XI played Wallasey on the Lower Ground with the rain delaying the start.

Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first and they made a good start with James Whittaker (26) and Luke Connolly (30) putting on 58 for the first wicket. After this, wickets fell quickly as they reached 103 for 7 and they needed a valuable 36 from skipper Charles Daniels to enable them to reach 151 for 9 declared in 46.5 overs.

Sefton made a good start to Wallasey's reply, taking the first two wickets without a run being scored. But the visitors then batted steadily and were able to pass the Sefton total with seven wickets down in 40.2 overs.

The Thirds remain fourth in the table.

The Fourth XI travelled to play Caldy's Thirds.

The homes side won the toss and decided to bat first. The put on 68 for the second wicket but from 96-2 the visitors struck back and Caldy were all out for 157 in 40.2 overs. Josemon Vincent took 5 for 10 in 7 overs, Ian Dawes 2 for 34.

Mike Heaney scored 100 off just 51 balls

Sefton's reply brought the second Sefton Park century of the day as Mike Heaney scored 100 off just 51 balls before promptly getting out the next ball. It was Mike's third century for the club and came 13 years after his second! Fellow opener Rob Kennedy scored 33 not out as the Fourths won by 9 wickets. They sit second in the table.
