Alex Woods' Sunday XI began their campaign in the 3rd XI (Sunday) First Division (South) with a trip to Wadham Road to play Bootle.

Bootle won the toss and elected to bat but were soon regretting the decision after Andy Fallows and Ian Dawes reduced them to 51 for five off 20 overs. Leg spin then took over with Tom Ball and Jamie Bowman taking the next four wickets between them to dismiss the hosts for 106.

Skipper Alex got Sefton's reply off to a fine start with a quick-fire 41 off 21 balls before the first wicket fell with the score 42. A mid-innings collapse left Mike Lowe with the task of steading the ship and his unbeaten 21 from 58 balls proved crucial, along with valuable contributions from Andy (10) and Ian (8no), as Sefton reached the target with eight wickets down.
