The First XI welcomed Southport & Birkdale to Sefton Park with the visitors needing a win to help them avoid relegation.

S & B won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost two early wickets to leave them on 7 for 2 but then proceeded to pick runs with their overseas player Dinuka Dilshan scoring 71 in 63 balls. Raheem Kasser bowled 20.2 overs and took 6 for 52 as Southport were dismissed for 190 in 53.2 overs. Mark Chappell took 2 for 67 and held on to 4 catches.

Not for the first time this season, the score gave Sefton supporters some hope but those hopes were soon dashed as wickets quickly fell and the first 7 wickets fell with the score on 21. Sefton's biggest stand of the day was 15 for the 10th wicket between Raheem Kasser (10 not out) and Jimmy Davies (8) as they all out for 56 in 27.2 overs.

With Sefton Park already relegated, Southport & Birkdale and Bootle are now level on points on 155, Next week S & B travel to Leigh and Bootle welcome Rainhill to Wadham Road for the last games of the season.

The Second XI were up early for a trip to play Lytham. They must have suffering a little as the first 7 wickets fell with the score on 31. There was a recovery as Paul Morris scored 48, Louis Jeck Prestige 28 and Tom Spilsbury. 16.

In reply Lytham appeared to be coasting to a ten wicket victory but a hat trick by Tom Spilsbury with the score on 115 prevented that. He took another wicket the next over to finish with 4 for 35 as Lytham passed the Sefton total with the four wickets down.

The result means that Bootle and New Brighton are relegated from that division.

The Third XI welcomed Ormskirk's Thirds to Sefton Park. Sefton batted first and declared on 179 for 6dec in 47 overs with Charlie Daniels scoring 31 and Mike Lowe 80.

With the Ormskirk's last wicket falling on 117 it looked a comfortable victory for the home side but the last two batsmen put on 56 in an exciting finish which took them to 173 and a 6 run victory for Sefton.

Chris Mitchell finished with 4 for 47, Charlie Nelson 2 for 28 Ronan Brady 2 for 26 and Ian Dawes 2 for 24.
