The First XI welcomed Highfield to Sefton Park.

The visitors won the toss and decided to field first

OPeners Ben Percival (8) and Haroon Khan (who went on to score 30) put on 27 for the first wicket. James Stirling (11) and Haroon put on 24 for the fourth wicket. but then the scoreboard appeared to be stuck on 56 as 5 wickets fell on the total

The last two wickets managed a few more runs and Sefton were all out for 73 in 34.4 overs.

In reply, Highfield at one point were 28 for 2 but had no real difficulty in passing the Sefton total in the eighteenth over with three wickets down.

Jimmy Dixon finished with 2 for 26

Just one point for the game means that the First XI slip to sixth in the table.

It was the SecondXI's turn to travel to Colwyn Bay, as ever, with a few changes from last time they played.

Sefton won the toss and decided to field.

After losing their first wicket on 1, Colwyn Bay put on 96 for the second and progressed steadily to be able to declare on 177 for 9 declared. Tom Rushton took 4 for 19 in 7 overs.

Sefton's reply began well as Kaash Patel (24) and Jeremy Rogers (25) put on 45 for the first wicket but after that, only Raj Bhardwaj offered real resistance with 26 and in the end it was left to Tom Rushton (10 not out) and Ian Dawes (1 not out) to enable them to achieve a draw with the score finishing on 118 for 9 in 45 overs.


The only winners on the day were the Third XI who made the short journey to play Liverpool's Thirds.

Sefton were asked to bat first and did well to score 166 all out on a difficult pitch. Paul Morris scored 40 and Joash Vinu 30

Sefton's opening attack soon got amongst the wickets with James Woods taking 3 for 41 in 12 overs and Chris Salmon 3 for 23 in 10 overs. Liverpool's middle order recovered the situation somewhat, scoring 31 for the sixth wicket and 26 for the seventh wicket but Joash Vinu was able to clear up the tail, taking 3 for 8 in 4.1 overs and see Liverpool dismissed for 120 in 34.1 overs.

The win means that the Thirds maintain second spot in the table.


The Fourth XI played table toppers Merseyside Sports and Cultural on the Lower Ground.

Sefton batted first and were dismissed for 51 in 24 overs. Scott Hawkes scored 13.
