The First XI travelled to Wigan to play second placed Orrell Red Triangle.

They soon settled in to scoring fairly quickly but lost a wicket on 51. They then reached 127 when the second wicket fell. After that, it was just pain for the Sefton bowlers as they went on to declare on 233 for 2 in 50 overs. The two wickets were both catches by wicketkeeper James Stirling. Their opener Sam Healey scored and undefeated 107.

In reply, Sefton lost Chris Bellis without a run on the board. Despite Ben Percival scoring 24, James Stirlimg 18 and Huzaifa Zubair 20, they reached 96 for 8 and looked like they would soon be going home. However. Jimmy Dixon (42) and Daksh Singhvi (who finished on 35 not out) put on 72 for the ninth wicket and Sefton reached 181 all out in 48.3 overs.

The Firsts ended up with four points and remain fifth in the table

Next week, they welcome fourth placed Southport and Birkdale to Sefton Park before playing the Ray Tyler Cup Final against Spring View on Sunday

Southport and Birkdale were the Seconds opponents as Sefton hoped to extend their lead at the top of the table

The visitors won the toss and batted first. A low score looked highly possible as their seventh wicket fell with the score on 78 but a stand 81 for the eighth wicket enabled them to go on and be all out for 179 in 44.5 overs.

Dave Kelly finished with 3 for 51, Ronan Brady 3 for 32 and Michael Kelly 2 for 47.

Sefton's reply was steady and sensible. After losing the openers with 41 on the board Scott Aitchison (52) and Tom Rushton (51) put on 107 for the third wicket. Skipper Dave Kelly completed the six wicket victory in 37.3 overs by scoring 28 in 17 balls with three sixes. The Seconds remain top of the table with a lead of 40 points over second placed Ormskirk who have played two games less.
