Northern won by 3 wickets


The First Xi welcomed Lytham to Sefton Park and after winning the toss decided to bat first.

The got off to a quick start, putting 40 on the board before the first wicket fell. At 65, Haroon Khan was second batter out after scoring 47 in 46 balls. Kaash Patel,then, added 40 to take the score to 113 for 3. a stand of 54 for the fourth wickets between James Stirling (22) and Paul Horton. Paul went on to be sixth man out after scoring 66 and a further 20 runs were put on before he declared on 243 for 6 in 55 overs. Richie Forsyth finished on 22 not out and Pete Ostler 10 not out.

In reply, Sefton's opening bowlers were soon amongst the wickets. reducing Lytham to 4 for 2 and then taking the fourth, fifth and sixth wickets with the score on 22. A stand of 58 then took place for the seventh wicket but they were eventually all out for 89 in 35.1 overs.

The First XI remain in seventh place but close the gap on sixth place Lytham to 6 points.

The Second XI travelled to play Lytham. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first. Their captain Niall Dunn declared on 218 for 4 and he was 99 not out. This was as they reached 45 overs. Dave Kelly took 2 for 75.

Sefton's reply had three batters in double figures, Dave Kelly (23), Joash Vinu (19) and James Whittaker (38) The next highest score was 2. This meant that they reached 93 all out in 25.3 overs.


The Third XI kept up their title challenge with a win in their visit to New Brighton to play their Thirds. Sefton won the toss and batted first They steadily built up a score of 229 all out in 43.5 overs. James Daniels scored 37, Navi Singh 43 in 36 balls, Sarhad Rustom 38 and Paul Morris 31 not out in 23 balls.

In reply, New Brighton showed a lot of resistance, puting on 78 for the third wicket and wheen a draw looked possible, they lost their last three wickets for 4 runs, finishing on 175 all out in 44.3 overs.

Ronan Brady took 4 for 34 and Ben Lester 2 for 4

The Third XI need 25 points from each of their last two games against Northern Fourths (Away) and South Liverpool (Home)

Title rivals Merseyside Sports and Cultural have one game, home to Liverpoolo.



At the other end of the table, the Fourth XI are still looking for their first win despite some good efforts.

Northern's Thirds were the opponents on the Lower Ground. Sefton batted first and scored 154 all out in 45.1 overs. Harry Wright (19), Tim Yates (48) and Andy Aitchison (20) were their top scorers.

In reply, Sefton took some early wickets and there hopes were high with Northern on 80 for 6 but the visitors recovered to pass the Sefton total with seven wickets down in the 35th overs

Good bowling from James Orme (2 for34), Ian Dawes (2 for 50) and Andy Fallows 2 for 23.
