The First XI welcomed another old rival in New Brighton to Sefton Park.
They won the toss and decide to bat first.
The Sefton openers were both back in the pavilion fairly quickly as the team were 23 for 2..
Matt Young came in at number 3 to steady the innings and put on 46 for the the third wicket with Paul Horton (23). Matt was eventually out for 62 with the score on 161 got 5. By this time Huzaifa Zubair was going well and his 63 in 49 balls with 5 sixes enabled Sefton to declare on 202 for 9 in 54.4 overs.
In reply, New Brighton put on 53 for the first wicket. but then lost wickets fairly steadily to Huzaifa Zubair (3 for 36) and Daksh Singhvi (2 for 18).
With any result still possible Connor Melia joined the Sefton attack in the sixth over of the last 20. He took a wicket in his first over and then, remarkably, a hat trick with the first three balls of his second to finish with 4 for 3 as New Brighton were bowled out for 137 in 33.2 overs.
The First XI now move up to second in the table.

The Second XI travelled to play Leigh. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first.
A stand of 50 for the fifth wicket was the back bone of their inning and they were able to declare on 220 for 9 in 45 overs.
Michael Kelly finished with 3 for 68 and Shadab Khan 3 for 36.
Seftons reply was held together by an an innings of 81 from skipper Tom Rushton. but apart from 30 from Tom Wilkinson, they were only able to reach 171 all out in 42.1 overs.
The Third XI crossed the Mersey to play New Brighton's Thirds.
Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. James Whittaker (56), Jack Clements (37), Jack Sawbridge (24), Mark Boyns (20 not out) and Charles Daniels (31 not out) all contributed in their total of 211 for 7 declared in 45 overs.
In reply New Brighton put on 19 for the first wicket but were dismissed for 62 in 21.4 overs.
Mark Boyns took 3 for 30, Laurence Foster 4 for 18 and Finn Spragg 2 for 12.
The Thirds are top of their division
Maghull's Thirds were the fourth XI's opponents on the Lower Ground.
Maghull batted first, declaring on 236 for 6 with Jamie Bowman taking 4 for 71.
In reply, opener Rob Kennedy scored 55 and Navi Singh 93 as Sefton passed the Maghull total with six wickets down
